The Horrors - Higher [remix album stream]

Last year's graceful 'Skying' LP has been given the full remix treatment, featuring makeovers from the likes of Daniel Avery, Peaking Lights, and Connan Mockasin.

Southend-On-Sea’s finest, The Horrors, have shared a stream of a new remix album, which will be featured as part of the ‘Higher’ boxset due for a physical release in March.

The Horrors’ third album, ‘Skying’, certainly saw the group take their musicianship and experimentation into interesting new territory, so now feels like an appropriate moment for a full LP of reinterpretations. The enlisted remixers offer an eclectic mix, with expansive eleven-minute odysseys from Blanck Mass and Andy Blake for I Can See Through You and Moving Further Away respectively. Wisconsin-based duo Peaking Lights dub things up for their take on You Said, and Connan Mockasin offers a wonderfully wonky version of Still Life, which, by deconstructing its original through thick layers of wah-wah and trashy falsetto asides, reminds you what a belter of a single the original really was. Stream the whole thing below.

XL Recordings will release the ‘Higher’ boxset on the 26th March 2012.
