Tribute to Arvo Part at the Barbican late-April

A full day of art, music and discussion from the minimalist composer to feature from morning till night.

It looks like Estonian composer Arvo Part is getting his way. In inspiring the likes of everyone from Jamie XX to Grouper collaborator and Mirroring member Tiny Vipers, his influence reaches well beyond the realms of the classical world and his ‘sound world’ constructions will have the treatment they deserve. Aptly-titled Total Immersion, the day-long exploration of his work will take place on April 28th at the Barbican.

The event starts at 11am with multiple performances, workshops and discussions throughout the day and ending with a BBC Symphony Orchestra performance of his famous Tabula Rasa, Silhouette and Berliner Messe compositions. As an eminent figure in both minimalism and sacred music, this is a day not to be missed.
