Valentina - Wolves

Precise, piano-led pop by the Italian-English singer, from her debut EP for Greco-Roman.

You should recognise Valentina’s talents from Joe Goddard’s Gabriel, which still sounds as fresh and contagious as it did when it first surfaced in 2011. Now, the Italian-English singer is set to take her first steps into solo work with the ‘Wolves’ EP for Greco Roman, due out in April.

Here’s the title track from the EP, and with it things are looking promising. It’s one of those slow-stepping builders of a track – formed around delayed piano and a more refined vocal than the dancefloor panache of Gabriel. Later, snapping snares and a driving bassline form a disco-abstracted backbeat as Wolves emerges – ultimately
all the more affecting for how restrained it stays throughout. Stream below.

Greco Roman will release Valentina’s EP in April, and she’ll play a label showcase with Millenium and Roosevelt at London’s Shacklewell Arms on the 28th February.
