1. Piers James - 'K.K.O'

Piers James is ripping up the rule book with his latest single 'K.K.O'. Cutting his teeth in the word of hip hop and 90's boom-bap, the UK rapper and singer is flexing his penchant for mayhem in 2023 - swapping laid-back beats for face-melting guitar riffs and dexterous wordplay for visceral punk-fuelled choruses. Entering the new year with an almighty bang, we can't wait to hear James explore this world even more.

2. Lava Gulls - 'Nobody Else Could Find You'

Lava Gulls is the music of Brooklyn based producer and songwriter Jonathan Bailey. Taken from his recent EP 'Never Open Door', 'Nobody Else Could Find You' is a deeply textured, hazy offering splicing glitchy electronics with Bailey's unique and dreamy vocal flair.

3. Gold Fang - 'Mi Nuh Like'

Music is in Gold Fang's blood. His father, Errol Renaud, formed Australia’s first authentic reggae band, Un Tabu, in the 1980s and now the Eora-based artist is bringing his own visceral brand of rap-reggae to the forefront of culture. 'Mi Nuh Like' is an undisputed banger and was an easy selection for this week's round-up.

4. Nokia Mansion - 'FETTY'

Brighton-hailing duo Nokia Mansion have been a consistent and frenetic force in the UK underground rap scene over the last few years. They've been on our radar for quite some time now and are continually evolving their sound into something they can call their own. Having already put out two singles this year, new track, 'FETTY', is another strong release.

5. Big Spoon - 'Hush Money Scandal'

Rising songstress' Big Spoon and East London's EMI.KKO have linked up for this sultry R&B anthem 'Hush Money Scandal'. Awash with dreamy production and sun-soaked melodies, we've had this one on repeat all week.
