Gigs of the week: 23/01/13 - 30/01/13

Whether you prefer ambient noise or filth-coated grime – or you fancy a bit of both – there’s a ton of great stuff going on all over the UK this week. Once again, we’ve hand-picked some of the most exciting line-ups (along with some visuals to prove how good they are in the flesh) so you can see what gigs our eyes are on this week.

Wednesday 23rd January

  1. Stubborn Heart – Berkeley Suite, Glasgow
Luca Santucci and Ben Fitzgerald, AKA Stubborn Heart, set ears ablaze with their self-titled full-length back in November, which pens a love letter to melancholy synth pop. Catch the London and Oxford-based duo in Glasgow for a paradoxically uplifting dose of sadness.
  2. Flume – XOYO, London
The Sydney producer, whose video we featured recently, is taking to the decks at XOYO on Thursday. Watch an energetic Flume drop his remix of Hermitude’s HyperParadise at Triple J’s House Party.
  3. Herbal Mafia 7th Birthday with Serial Killaz, Elijah & Skilliam – Fibbers, York
Herbal Mafia kick off 2013 by celebrating their seventh year of representing York’s underground scene. Featuring D’n‘B dons Serial Killaz, Rinse / Butterz grime champions Elijah & Skilliam plus other local talent, the night is set to be a celebration of the last seven years in bass-related music.

Watch this video of the latter performing at the festival in 2011.
