Demdike Stare, Le1f and Laurel Halo among those to play VIA music festival

VIA Music & New Media Festival returns to Pittsburgh this year, taking place from 1st-6th October. Featuring live performances, workshops and interactive events, the lineup boasts some of the best names operating in underground music right now, including Gatekeeper, Ital, Laurel Halo, Demdike Stare, Nate Young, Le1f, and Moodymann. VIA describes itself as such:

“The third annual VIA Music & New Media Festival continues its tradition of unique performances featuring emerging musicians and new media artists. Spanning an entire week, over 50 local, national and international artists representing 4 countries converge in Pittsburgh for a/v performances, workshops, and interactive events that blend the best of nightlife and arts culture. Re-framing city spaces, the 6-day festival shows off a thoughtful cross-section of venues that are uniquely Pittsburgh: from riverways to museums, clubs, and transformed pop-up spaces. A number of free, all-ages events support ticketed programs. Emphasizing VIA’s literal meaning of ‘by way of, or passing through’ the festival encourages Pittsburgh as a nexus for young artists on the borders of music, art, and technology.”
