Formation Meet Modular Synth Makers ALM Busy Circuits

Having been granted an intimate look at Formation frontman Will Ritson’s formative years via a series of poems, we decided to get to know a little bit more about the band’s synth player Sasha Lewis and his passion for all things modular as he interviewed Matthew Allum, owner and designer of the vaunted boutique electronic design company, ALM Busy Circuits.

No stranger to synths having patched modular’s for Four Tet and Jon Hopkins and having made synth records with Caribou, Floating Points, Joe Goddard and Simian Mobile Disco, Sasha’s trip down to the ALM Busy Circuits Workshop to meet the self-taught modular maker to talk about – as synth nerds do – 'Pamela's Workout', 'Akemie’s Castle', 'Sid Guts', the 'Haswell Taiko' and ‘Dinky’ provides a fascinating insight into both men with us, as self confessed modular novices finding out a heap of new things about the Eurorack modular synthesizers used by so many of our favourite artists in the process. Check out their chat below and get ready to fall down the rabbit hole wanting to learn more!
