Alt-hip hop duo Afro Comb welcome you to their party with new single 'Hocus Pocus'
North London hip hop duo Afro Comb are back with an intoxicating new single from their upcoming ‘When The Fun Stops…’ EP, out October 24.
Titled ‘Hocus Pocus’, the new track establishes the pair’s eclectic sound, splicing experimental UK rap with neo soul melodies to give both voices in the duo a slot in the spotlight. Brought to life by London-based producer Naughty Alice, ‘Hocus Pocus’ sonically mines the edges of acts such as Kaytranada, The Internet and Ragz Orginale.
In this instance, the pair’s motto “one love, two perspectives” rings out loud and clear, with both artists offering their own views on the themes of escapism and addiction punctuating the rest of the song.
Co-directed and created by Afro Comb themselves, the accompanying music video, premiering on Youtube at 4pm, matches the single’s abstract nature and follows the journey of a relatable night out. Inspired the trippy visuals of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and feeding into the wider narrative of the pair’s ‘When The Fun Stops…’ EP, the video cleverly explores the idea of escapism in more detail.
