Blush’ko's ‘Floral Surfboard’ is a Summer Soundscape of Soul and Surf Rock
Melbourne-based artist Blush’ko has released his debut album, 'Floral Surfboard', a lush fusion of R&B, soul, blues, and psychedelic surf rock.
Known for his soulful vocals and magnetic stage presence, Blush’ko is already a fixture in the Australian music scene. This album, however, catapults him into new territory, blending dreamy guitars and synths with smooth vocals that flow like a warm, immersive wave.
The album features ten tracks that draw influences from Silk Sonic’s polished funk and Tame Impala’s trippy, layered soundscapes, co-produced with Tentendo and Jujo. These renowned collaborators add a rich, textured feel that elevates Blush’ko’s music, allowing each track to melt seamlessly into the next. From catchy hooks to sultry melodies, 'Floral Surfboard' is packed with moments that invite listeners to kick back and drift.
Leading the album is the single 'Lush', a steamy track that opens with a playful radio intro: “You’re tuned into Sex FM, where we talk about… sex.” Blush’ko’s vocals take centre stage as he croons lyrics that toe the line between reverence and seduction: “Let me worship you like a holy night”. With its slow-burn tempo, 'Lush' is the perfect introduction to 'Floral Surfboard'.
Blush’ko has sold out every headline show since his 2018 debut, sharing stages with names like Goldlink and Jhené Aiko. Now, with 'Floral Surfboard', he’s setting a new rhythm in the R&B landscape.
'Floral Surfboard' is out now.
