Bo en - by the phone

London-based producer Bo en has released a new single, as part of the Maltine Records 10-year anniversary series.

Calum Bowen’s new track by the phone combines a playful video game beat with a gurgling melody that serves as the entrée for randomly disruptive samples. It's a maddening and mind-meddling song that brims with the same confidence and pop-eccentricity that Animal Collective fans will recognise.

Speaking to The FADER about the single, bo en said the mind-meddling track represents “the cross-over points of musical styles,” adding that ‘by the phone’ “is a very explicit denouncement of genres as something I ‘am’ rather than something I do!” We couldn’t have put it any better, Calum.
