Dead Horse Turn Devotion Into Music On New Single ‘I Would Die’
London post-punk trio Dead Horse have shared ‘I Would Die’, the latest preview of their forthcoming debut album 'Caught The Nonsense', due 11 September via Sister 9 Records.
Trading some of their usual absurdism for something more emotionally direct, the track explores love and obsession through a simple, repeated declaration of total devotion. As the refrain circles back on itself, it shifts from romantic sentiment to something more consuming and slightly unsettling.
Musically, though, Dead Horse remain firmly in their noisy territory. Jagged guitars and urgent rhythms push the song forward, retaining the rough-edged energy that has made the trio one of London’s more unpredictable live acts.
Formed in 2019, Kevin Lennon, Josh Kemp and Duncan Clark have built their sound around garage rock, noise and post-punk, with previous releases including Dead Horse I, Hot Martyr and Ménagerie Trois. Caught The Nonsense looks set to continue that evolution, balancing the band's surreal humour and controlled chaos with some more exposed moments.
“'I Would Die' is a love song, but pushed to an extreme,” the band explain. “The lyrics are deliberately simple and direct, almost like a mantra.”
