Ford & Lopatin - I Surrender (Peaking Lights Bass Ship Remix) [MP3]

Ford & Lopatin, that is Dan Oneohtrixpoint Never Lopatin and Joel Tigercity Ford, are releasing a remix album of their debut LP ‘Channel Pressure’ next week. One of the re-imaginings comes from husband and wife pair Peaking Lights, whose album ‘936’, all thick syrupy hypnotic sway, is undeniably one of the year’s best. They slickly mould the mellow ’80s grooves of the original into something even more sparkling and serene. Swooning strings, flurries of burbling synths and that steady plucking bass are stretched out and gently toyed with until the whole thing reaches an elegant crescendo. Lovely stuff, like watching a sunset dissolve.

Also, for those in London, Peaking Lights are playing Plastic People in early December in association by brilliant local promoters Feeding Time. Don’t miss out.
