Headie One links up with Drake on 'Only You Freestyle'
North London’s Headie One has linked up with Drake for the new track ‘Only You Freestyle’, furthering the Canadian artist’s exploration into UK drill.
Having previously shown support for the genre, giving his own take on the sound with songs ‘War’ and ‘Demons’, Drake has now sought out drill’s poster boy for a bold transatlantic tune.
Underpinned by the fierce production of M1 On The Beat, the two rap heavy-hitters take turns projecting their contrasting styles and flow before the Tottenham lyricist closes proceedings on a high.
The collaboration happened out of respect for one another after Drake messaged Headie on Instagram to propose the idea.
Speaking of the tune, Drizzy stated: “I had to go hard, especially on a track with one of the best drill artists in the world… Scratch that – the best drill artist in the world”.
‘Only You Freestyle’ is Headie’s first release since ‘Rose Gold’ in May, which itself followed his experimental mixtape with UK producer Fred again.., ‘GANG’.
The Nathan James Tettey-directed video was shot between London and Toronto; each artist filmed by their respective crews in a dimly lit parking lot as they dropped their verses.
