Internet Cafe Launch Debut Single ‘Sign of the Times’

A blend of jungle, R&B and alt-pop on first release co-written with Låpsley.

South London duo Internet Cafe step into 2026 with their debut single ‘Sign of the Times’, a luminous introduction co-written with Låpsley.

Fusing raw UK electronics with flashes of jungle, R&B and alternative pop, the pair - Imi Smith (vocals) and Luke Ferrero (production) - have already built a word-of-mouth following through kinetic live shows and a run of high-profile supports, including dates with Good Neighbours and Vendredi sur Mer.

Written and produced entirely from their shared one-bedroom flat in South London, ‘Sign of the Times’ captures both the intimacy and urgency of their DIY beginnings. Driving breakbeats, swelling synths and subtle guitar lines underpin Imi’s airy yet emotionally direct vocal, before the chorus detonates into a rush of dancefloor energy. Lyrically, the track confronts the anxieties of building a life in a sprawling city: disconnection, pressure and the quiet resilience of a generation figuring it out in real time.

Having previously teased fans with floppy disks embedded with NFC chips for early demos, Internet Cafe now formalise their arrival. ‘Sign of the Times’ marks the first in a run of releases slated for 2026.

'Sign of the Times' is out now.
