Jericho Noguera teases his new EP with shimmering indie slice 'Talking To You'

"The narratives in the [upcoming EP's] later tracks all follow on from this song..."

Keeping the momentum after releasing his debut single ‘Lips Are Blue’ back in September, Jericho Noguera today shares the second hint at his forthcoming self-titled EP, due for release later this year.

‘Talking To You’ is a sensitive ballad racked with palpable anxiety and longing. Complete with dreamy falsettos and soothing riffs, the single mines the edges of his wide spanning influences, namely the likes of indie sweethearts Mac Demarco and Yellow Days, creating a poignant soundtrack ideal for the darkening days of Autumn.

It was produced during Jericho’s time with the Year 6 intake of Gilles Peterson’s prestigious talent incubator Future Bubblers, which began earlier this year. Speaking on the track, the up-and-comer comments: “‘Talking To You’ is really the centrepiece of my forthcoming EP, the narratives in the later tracks all follow on from this song. It’s got a big sound. Harvey played a massive role in reigning it in and ironing out the creases. I really hope people connect with what we’ve done.”

Jericho’s Cheltenham-based upbringing can be heard coursing the veins of his work, echoing the sounds of Jeff Buckley, Bill Withers and Tom Yorke, who he grew up listening to. Now based in Birmingham, the rising talent draws directly from the UK’s jazz revival, working closely with Puma Blue and Joy Crookes collaborator Harvey Grant, whilst adding his own healthy injection of psychedelia and old school soul.
