July 7 explores his Jamaican heritage on patois-inspired track 'Waistline'

At just 17-years-old, Manchester native July 7 was rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest icons in rap, producing beats for the likes of Travis Scott, T.I. and Young Thug, before embarking on solo career.

Despite already amounting two well-received EPs ‘Sweets’ and ‘Chocolate’, the 23-year-old is on course to make 2020 one of his most creative years yet, dropping a series of singles including the reggaeton-inspired pop heater ‘Pum Pum’, ‘Dentro’, ‘Long Time No See’, ‘Vibe With Me’, and ‘Rodeo’.

His latest cut ‘Waistline’ continues to channel the evocative nature of his previous releases, while the rising singer-producer looks back to his family roots as inspiration for the track’s dancehall-indebted sound.

Speaking of the new tune, July 7 described it as a “sensual, playful song that focuses on expression and having fun”.

“It’s me dabbling with my Jamaican heritage and putting my own twist on things whilst keeping it hot and luxurious”, he added.
