Lucia & The Best Boys Shares New Single 'Better For The Worse' Ahead of Album
Lucia & The Best Boys has returned with new single 'Better For The Worse', the latest preview of forthcoming album 'Picking Petals', due for release on 31 July via Communion Records.
Following recent performances at The Great Escape, Get Together, Dot to Dot and the Isle of Wight Festival, the new track sees Lucia Fairfull embrace a brighter, more expansive sound. Driven by sparkling octave mandolin and an anthemic sense of release, 'Better For The Worse' pairs soaring melodies with the emotional intensity that has become a hallmark of her songwriting, drawing comparisons to the euphoric folk-pop of 'Dog Days Are Over'.
The single arrives alongside a video filmed inside Glasgow's legendary Barrowland Ballroom, a venue deeply woven into Fairfull's own story. Her grandparents once danced there together, she opened for The Bay City Rollers at the venue as a teenager, and this October she'll return to headline the historic room in the biggest show of her career.
'Better For The Worse' follows recent collaboration 'Big Romance', which featured Abigail Morris of The Last Dinner Party and made its live debut during the band's recent festival run.
Recorded with acclaimed producer Yves Rothman at Castle of Doom Studios, 'Picking Petals' might be Lucia & The Best Boys' most ambitious work to date. The album arrives ahead of an extensive run of UK dates, including instore performances, festival appearances and a headline hometown show at Barrowland Ballroom on 23 October.
