NePh Steps Into His Power on ‘Low Fidelity 2: I’m Taxin’
New York-based rapper NePh returns with 'Low Fidelity 2: I’m Taxin’, the latest chapter in his gritty lo-fi rap series that merges street realism with soulful introspection.
Building on the reflective tone of the first 'Low Fidelity' project, the sequel finds NePh (real name Nephaniel) more confident, grounded, and self-assured, fusing his trademark dusty textures with sharper storytelling and heavier rhythms.
“I’m the HNIC in the depression department, but not something to be happy about,” he raps, capturing the project’s duality - vulnerable yet unflinching. Across the tape, NePh transforms lived experience into cathartic honesty, weaving personal struggle into music that feels both relatable and uplifting.
The title 'I’m Taxin’ signals a turning point: NePh knowing his worth and demanding his dues, artistically and personally. The sound is streetwise but soulful, polished in spirit yet intentionally rough around the edges, reflecting a rapper who has honed his craft without losing his authenticity.
Originally from Chicago’s South Side, NePh has built a name on self-belief and organic collaboration, creating with friends and kindred artists rather than chasing trends. “I know what I’m making is damn good,” he says. “As long as I stick to my roots and my fanbase grows, we’ll see it through.”
On 'Low Fidelity 2: I’m Taxin’, NePh proves that lo-fi doesn’t mean low stakes; it’s the sound of an artist betting on himself and winning on his own terms.
'Low Fidelity 2: I’m Taxin’ is out now.
