Premiere: Atelier Blue explore love's pitfalls on 'Empty Lungs'
Rising synth-pop duo Atelier Blue is the brain child of Olivia McShane and Alex Bloomfield, who since carving their fresh and modern sound in a homemade studio have been compared to the likes of Kate Bush.
‘Empty Lungs’ continues the group’s dazzling, contemporary sound since releasing their debut single ‘Haunted‘ earlier this year, and combines sequences of chill-wave guitar riffs with Olivia’s honey-coated vocals, articulating the deep visceral stresses and inner frustrations that can come from love.
Of the track, Olivia says: “I think this song really wanted to be written, it represents feelings we know all too well: being in love, feeling trapped, needing someone so much you resent yourself for it, the release of energy after a fight… That’s the metaphor behind ‘Empty Lungs”.
