Premiere: Cloud Boat - Dréan

After the tortured soul of Wanderlust, here’s the new single from Cloud Boat – with the pair set to form a double A-side release on R&S offshoot Apollo Records at the start of next month.

Whereas Wanderlust emerged out of its guitar-focused opening for a particularly gothic take on clipped, watery beats a la Mount Kimbie, Dréan remains within the sparsest of acoustic terrains. Accompanying slide guitar further moves the sonics beyond Cloud Boat’s usual comfort zone – but Dréan fits alongside Wanderlust with its building of roughly sketched dread-filled images: “because death is coming, it rides into town on a horse”.
