Peckham's Tallulah introduces herself with 'More Than Friends'

The Valentine's Day drop establishes her as a singular new talent...

South London upstart Tallulah makes her debut outing with ‘More Than Friends’, a warm, synth-led track that wears its ’80s influences on its sleeve.

The Peckham singer-songwriter grew up listening to artists like Cyndi Lauper, Kate Bush and Tina Turner, and those sonics have clearly absorbed into her own soul-pop writing as Tallulah.

Not only is Tallulah an artist but she’s also a label boss, running her own Trash Like You imprint, and with an EP, ‘Purple’, planned for this spring, she’s no doubt got her hands full.

Drawing on personal experience, the Valentine’s Day drop is about a long-term friendship of hers that developed suddenly into something else: “It was a sudden thing that I’d given no thought to prior to that night,” she says: “At the time I wrote the song, it all felt really secretive and exciting. I wanted it to sound how I felt.”

‘Purple’ comes out in March.
