Vanity Fairy draws for italo disco on single 'He Can Be Your Lady'
Inspired by the ’70s and ’80s, Vanity Fairy is the project of songwriter and vocalist Daisy Capri.
We’ve been working with her via our DMY Artists, and today she reveals ‘He Can Be Your Lady’, a single tinged with vintage Moroder synths and her own shimmering vocals that have drawn comparisons with Kate Bush and Bat For Lashes.
“My musical tastes skew very much in favour of the ’70s and ’80s because I love the aesthetic of those eras,” Vanity Fairy says. “The colours, the music, the clothes. In many ways I wish I’d lived through those years. I feel like I would have fitted in better then; I enjoy imagining an alternate life where I live in those decades.”
Spun today by Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music, you can listen to ‘He Can Be Your Lady’ below or via your preferred streaming service here.
