Dummy Presents: Tru Thoughts at Ace Hotel London

Dummy are pleased to announced the second takeover of January 2016 will come from pioneering Brighton based label, Tru Thoughts. An independent established just before the turn of the millennium, Tru Thoughts is one of the most exciting labels of the past two decades – signing and developing artists such as Bonobo, Domu, Peshay, Rodney P, and Zed Bias.

Moving with both the times and listener’s tastes, Tru Thoughts always have their finger on the pulse. We’re pretty excited about this line-up, and sure you will be too.

We couldn’t think of any better headliner than the new Tru Thoughts signee and legendary MC, Flowdan. The ever-distinctive voice on The Bug’s track Skeng, whether he’s spitting patois over a dub or throwing down on Logan Sama sets with some of grime’s top shotta MCs, Flowdan is a musical shape-shifter who has made his mark across various UK genres. Seriously…anything could happen.

Werkha, also known as Tom A. Leah, has been riding the waves of success over the past few months. Last year’s full-length debut ‘Colours Of A Red Brick Raft’ was a shining showcase of his deep and jazz-licked productions, incorporating worldly influences with playful charm. A firm favourite on Julie Adenuga’s Beats1 show, Werkha is the perfect soundtrack to a soulful hour in the Ace Hotel basement.

Eclectic beat explorer Harleighblu will also be on hand with her signature sound of extraordinarily multi-layered blend of innately hip-hop infected style, alongside winter warmer Wrongtom who wowed listeners with his recent EP ‘Possessed’, which featured legendary vocalist Tippa Irie.

As always, there’s no door tax. All you need to do is RSVP on Ace Hotel’s website and there's more info on the Facebook event page.

Dummy Presents: Tru Thoughts with Flowdan, Werkha, Harleighblu and Wrongtom on January 27th (free with RSVP).
