Dummy at SXSW

Somewhat of a showcase of the underground’s finest right now, we were going to start this announcement with the local t-shirt slogan, ‘Don’t Mess With Texas’ but scratch that, as we’re about to do just that. Next month, Dummy are hosting a UK and Irish invasion at the world famous music mecca, SXSW.  Advance warning – this Dummy Presents line-up will give even the most PMA focused person FOMO, so if you’re going to be desk-bound during the conference, we suggest you look away now.

Rejjie Snow needs little introduction. From Dublin to the world, the soul-inspired rapper already boast a cameo from Johnny Depp’s daughter in his late-night Lynchian jam All Around The World. Knick knack paddy whack give the women Snow.

Rejjie will be joined by fellow rapper, Loyle Carner, who in the past 12 months has garnered attention in all the right places – sowing the seeds of his honest hip-hop and sincere songwriting alongside the likes of Kwes, Kate Tempest and Tom Misch.

Following the second round of support for his sublime pop hit Broken Flowers (originally released in 2013), PC Music poster boy Danny L Harle will also be performing for us in Texas. Making under to overground crossover anthems like it’s nothing, we expect to be showered in deep piano riffs, infectious rhythm, and insanely catchy lyrics.

And another thing that keeps on giving….this line-up. Following successful sets at our Dummy Presents parties in London and consistently catching our eye with the molten hot artwork of Steve Smith, Activa Benz’s honcho Slugabed and label-mate Sega Bodega will be bring their trademark ‘anything goes’ attitude to the party, hopefully dressed like they’re en route to a P Diddy white party.

Darq E Freaker you say? From the early workings of Cherryade and the Danny Brown adopted beat Blueberry (Pills & Cocaine), the self-proclaimed ‘professor of urban electronica’ has carved his own niche. Remixing artists from Kelis to Keys N Krates and collaborating with vocalists Dai Burger to D (it’s muy) Double E, there’s no stopping the guy.

Last and definitely not least is the jewel in our SXSW party crown, Throwing Shade. A recent guest for us at Dummy Presents: No Pain In Pop, she’s been busy at work with her ‘House Of Silk’ EP on Ninja Tune and is probably more than ready to let her hair down with a dazzingly eclectic set of strictly feelgood rhythms.

Entry is free with a SXSW pass so whether you’re an Austin local or in town or industry alien, come join us. Keep up to date with any updates on the Facebook event page.

Dummy at SXSW takes place on Thursday March 17th at North Door, Austin, Texas and is free with a SXSW pass (buy).
