Frank Ocean cancels Coachella weekend 2 headline show

The 'Blonde' rapper will not perform on doctor's advice after injuring his leg...

Frank Ocean has confirmed he's pulling out of his scheduled headline set at Coachella this Sunday, April 23.

The 'Blonde' rapper will not perform on doctors advice due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg that he picked up during rehearsals for his first show at the festival last weekend.

“It was chaotic,” Ocean said in a statement. “There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”

Frank's Coachella performance was perhaps one of the most hyped up festival bookings over the last few years, however, it didn't live up to the expectations many fans had. Prior to today’s cancellation, sources indicated that Ocean had recently sustained an ankle injury which forced changes to the set’s overall production.

Ocean, who hadn’t performed live in four years, took to the stage over an hour late and left abruptly due to a ‘curfew’, disappointing many fans that quickly took to social media to express their sadness. The musician also changed the arrangements, speeds, and melodies of his well-known hits, defying the crowd's attempts to sing along, as well as making the decision to cut the livestream of his performance.

Following his heavily criticised performance, Google searches to "sell Coachella tickets" skyrocketed by 445%. Whether out of disappointment surrounding the show itself, or out of fear that Ocean would pull out all together, festival-goers were clearly getting itchy feet in the aftermath of weekend 1.

Now, it seems those fears have been confirmed after Ocean becomes the second Coachella headliner in a row to drop out, after Kanye West pulled out of the festival last year.
