Frank Ocean’s Coachella controversy causes searches for "sell Coachella tickets" to rise 445%
Google searches to "sell Coachella tickets" have skyrocketed by 445% in the days following Frank Ocean's heavily criticised headline set.
The rapper's Coachella performance might have been one of the most hyped-up and highly anticipated festival appearances of the last decade. But it didn't live up to the expectations many of his fans had.
Ocean, who hadn’t performed live in four years, took to the stage over an hour late and left abruptly due to a ‘curfew’, disappointing many fans that quickly took to social media to express their sadness.
Per reports from Pitchfork, Ocean injured his ankle while rehearsing for his set, leading to the delays. The musician also changed the arrangements, speeds, and melodies of his well-known hits, defying the crowd's attempts to sing along.
Fans who couldn’t attend Coachella were left frustrated after Ocean made the decision to cut the livestream of his performance too.
Analysis of Google search data by CasinoAlpha reveals that online searches for "sell Coachella tickets" exploded 445% worldwide just hours after Frank Ocean’s Sunday night set received criticism.
The searches come ahead of Coachella’s second weekend and suggest that many are looking to sell their ticket, whether this be out of disappointment or fear that Frank Ocean may pull out of performing altogether.
