Funkineven - The Joker / Mars

Analogue funkateer Funkineven has been a firm favourite around these parts for some time, so it's always good to hear that his music is reaching a higher and higher profile with each new release. His forthcoming 'Species' EP will see a release through Julio Bashmore's imprint, Boardwalk Records (recently home to the much-derided Duccy) and he's debuted two of the tracks from it ahead of its drop date. The Joker is an erratic electro jam with a tempo that grinds to a halt in its final third, while Mars is built around a licked sample that just won't quit.
