J Hus sentenced to eight months in jail for carrying a knife
J Hus has been given an eight-month sentence in jail after pleading guilty to carrying a knife in a public place.
The 23-year-old rapper, real name Momodou Jallow, was caught with the blade outside Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, having had previous involvement in gang rivalries that caused him to get stabbed in the leg.
At Snaresbrook Crown Court, Judge Sandy Canavan told the BRIT-nominee he was a “role model to many” but “failed” to leave his past behind him.
Defending J Hus, Henry Blaxland told the court the defendant had mild PTSD from previously being stabbed himself and had been seeing a therapist.
He explained that the sentencing would have “huge consequences” on the afrobeats rapper’s performance schedule.
A court report says that J Hus displayed no emotion while the sentence was read out.
