Jack White announces solo album, streams first single

White Stripes frontman self-releases debut album.

Since calling time on The White Stripes, Jack White has made a few cracks at solo material, outside of his work with The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. Now full details of his own album are out.

His own Columbia-backed label Third Man will release ‘Blunderbuss’ on the 24th April, and on the 7th February, Third Man will release a 7” of Love Interruption, backed by a non-album track, Machine Gun Silhouette. You can hear Love Interruption below, or buy it as a digital release on his website.

Jack wrote in the press release that ‘Blunderbuss’ is “an album I couldn’t have released until now. I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.”

Previous solo material include a cover of You Know That I Know, by Hank Williams and Fly Farm Blues, a single which was recorded and written in ten minutes. Arguably his best solo work appeared on the Cold Mountain soundtrack, a film in which he also acted.
