Miami rapper Rick Ross won court battle over his controversial name

The former drug dealer "Freeway" Rick Ross lost the right to be the only Rick Ross around.

The USA rapper William Leonard Roberts, better known as Rick Ross, won the battle over the rights of his stage name. Ross is the founder of record label Maybach Music Group, on which he released his studio albums Deeper Than Rap and Teflon Don.

While he was topping the charts, however, the actual Rick Ross, known as “Freeway” Ricky Ross, the famous and once very successful drug-dealer, lost every chance of unique ownership of the name. “Freeway” found out about Rick Ross in jail, and started his personal battle against the Miami rap star in 2010, which came to its end yesterday in a federal LA court.

While rapper Rick Ross was too busy to comment and had spent the the last hours tweeting and posting pictures of a Rolex shop in Geneva (where he’ll be playing this night), the real Rick Ross doesn’t appear pleased with the verdict.

He has, in fact, told TMZ that he feels like he got “hit in the stomach.”

The former drug dealer also added that he feels deprived of his identity and that he wishes to appeal, as in his words: “you shouldn’t be allowed to steal someone’s identity and get away with it.”
