Mirage - Let's Kiss

Italians Do It Better finally release 'After Dark 2' this coming Friday, with the Johnny Jewel-produced 'Let's Kiss' as a sumptuous taster.

If 2013 is the year of comebacks, Italians Do It Better’s follow-up to their 2007-released homemade Italo-disco compilation ‘After Dark’ may not be as headline-stealing as that of Daft Punk or Boards of Canada – but it is at least more assured of its ability to live up to the dreamy other-worldliness of its predecessor. Featuring material from mainstays Chromatics, Glass Candy and Farah amongst others, ‘After Dark 2’ will also come beautifully adorned in the stunning artwork as is typical of the US label.

Mirage’s offering Let’s Kiss is modern disco executed with unparalleled finesse. In the words of in-house producer par excellence Johnny Jewel, Let’s Kiss was written the same week as [Desire’s] Under Your Spell in November 2008:

“After a bizarre & beautiful twist of fate, I walked into a remote bar in Montreal where I met the love of my life. The next morning… Ida & I had to leave. We flew to France for a handful of sweaty club shows. On the train out of Paris, I realized my whole world had been permanently turned upside down. The rain was crashing against the windows… & I decided I wanted to make a record that felt like that moment frozen in time… “For Ever Ever”. That’s when After Dark 2 was born.”
