Noise complaints from "one neighbour" closes down Brussels night club Fuse
Belgium's longest running techno club Fuse may be forced to close down permanently after receiving noise complaints from one neighbour.
The beloved venue is currently closed while it awaits the result of an appeal, which they're expecting by January 25.
"After almost 29 years of existence, Fuse has received from the Brussels Regional Administration the immediate order to play music at a maximum of 95 dB and to close its doors at 2:00 am," reads a statement from Fuse on social media. "It is impossible to open a club under these circumstances, so the club will remain closed from today."
The night club has been forced to close after receiving complaints from a neighbour who bought a house adjacent to the venue some years ago. The establishment claim to have executed "significant isolation works" as well as working on a compromise however this hasn't solved the issue.
"It is very regrettable that an iconic club gathering thousands of music lovers and artists, employing 10 people during the week and 80 employees during the weekend, is put at stake because of one neighbour," the night club continue.
It's feared that the closure of Fuse and the parties it hosts will have a negative impact on the local economy, foreign tourism and cultural life in the city more generally.
