Orlando's dancehall round-up: March 2016
Some of the biggest news this month was the appearance of Mixpak artist, Popcaan on a leaked Drake song, Controlla. This collaboration could've been predicted when Drake featured Popcaan talking in between songs on his mixtape, 'If You Are Reading This It's Too Late'. The collaboration further solidifies Popcaan's holding as a forerunner in dancehall's mainstream revival.
Alkaline, one of the most talked about artists since his break out in 2013, released his debut album this month. Produced predominantly by DJ Frass, the album includes last years hit single, Champion Boy. Demarco has announced the release of his first official debut album, set to drop in May.
A real highlight of the month, this fire riddim is a dancefloor heater filled with some of the best voicings. Demarco absolutely destroys it on Nah Sell Out. Beenie Man and Jordanne Patrice also provide stellar tracks.
A perfect party starter riddim with great vocals from Charly Black in the form of his track with Pretti Kitti, Mi Love It. Dane Ray's version Punu Nunu is also tops!
