Premiere: Lil Halima’s ‘Jasmine’ video shows the power of female friendships

Despite only having a handful of tracks out in the world, 20-year-old, Oslo-based Lil Halima has drawn heavy praise for her intimate pop-R&B sound.

The half-Norwegian, half-Kenyan singer is on the brink of releasing her debut EP, which drops mid-October. ‘Jasmine’, which is the third single to be released off record, focuses around a cheating boyfriend, lust, and anger (revolving around the refrain “you do it all for Jasmine”).

While the video, which we’re premiering below, shows Lil Halima surrounded by her girl gang in the wilderness and is an ode to female friendships.

Of the new visual, Lil Halima says: “This whole video had a vibe, from me and my friends late at night at mcdonalds after a day of shooting talking about life and death to the end result and the video itself. The vibe, was the song. And I feel like because we all felt it, the video turned out the way it did. All very natural. Thank you to my talented friends over at Also Known As, you are amazing.”

Watch it now.

Lil Halima's EP, ‘love songs for bad lovers’, is out October 12th via Universal Music and Def Jam Recordings Norway.
