Premiere: Neville Watson - The Girl From Kowloon Tong

Sublime house chimes from London producer Neville Watson.

London-based producer and DJ Neville Watson has been recording since the late 90s, releasing records on his own Mighty Atom label and championing the analogue-heavy, Chicago jackin’ house-inspired terrain of sound. Having helmed the crowns of a string of labels such as Clone Jack For Daze Series, London’s World Unknown and Andy Blake’s Dissient, he is also best known for his collaboration with the like-minded Bulgarian producer KiNK. Over the years, the pair have brought us anthems such as Blueprint and Inside Out via the Rush Hour offshoot Hour House Is Your Rush Records.

Watson finally unleashes his debut full-length album this week via Creme Organization, a Dutch label operated by DJ TLR. Entitled ‘Song To Elevate Pure Hearts’, it’s an 11-track output exploring raw house rhythms and rough analogue textures. Premiered at Dummy here is The Girl From Kowloon Tong, a 2-minute track that moves slightly away from the direction of club-rooted, vivacious tension, injecting a shimmering energy that explores and sinks into chiming house chords both uplifting and sublime. According to Watson, this track as well as the whole album are dedicated to his wife who is originally from Kowloon Tong area in Hong Kong. We’ve picked this track as one of the must-check pieces of production in our May staff mix, in case you missed it.

Those who live in London, Watson will be celebrating the launch of his debut album at the Moons Above party, taking place on Thursday 6th June at Dalston venue Dance Tunnel. Special appearances come from Creme boss DJ TLR and Don’t Be Afraid captain Semtek. It’s a free event, running from 9pm – 3am. Further information here.

Creme Organisation will release Neville Watson – ‘Songs To Elevate Pure Hearts’ LP on 20th May, 2013
