R Kelly undergoes emergency throat surgery, forced to stop performing

It has been announced that R&B superstar “R Kelly”: is to “be laid up for an indefinite amount of time” after emergency surgery to drain an abscess on his tonsils.

After visiting a doctor early on Tuesday to complain of extreme throat pain, the 44-year-old singer was rushed to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital for the urgent operation. It is not known how long it will be before he is able to perform again.

Kelly has just completed his international Love Letter tour, and was only slated to perform in Jamaica, a spokesperson from Jive Records has confirmed.
