rLr (XL's Richard Russell) announces new 'I Am Paint' live swap events

rLr (XL's Richard Russell) has announced new details of his 'I Am Paint' project.

Following the release of the 'I Am Paint' 12" in April this year, Russell has expanded the scheme whereby participants create something unique and trade/swap the item for a copy of the rare vinyl. The song pressed on wax was created by Russell at his Residence La Revolution, London and features a voice sample of Lee “Scratch” Perry. The recording was captured on film (watch above) and is now sadly one of the last remaining documents following a disastrous fire at Perry's studio, as reported earlier this month.

Two opportunities to barter for the remaining copies of the release will take place on Wednesday, December 16th at Rough Trade West, London and at the Soho Maharishi store from December 17th-24th (event details for the former can be found here). A press release for the events states the following rule:

"To take part, participants should make something they wish to swap and bring to one of the in-store events. It’s important that works are created specifically for this trade, rather than offering to trade any pre-existing item."
