Sónar returns to Latin America with Sónar São Paulo in 2012

Sónar will hold a large-format festival in São Paulo next year.

Next year, Sónar will return to São Paulo for the first time since 2004, when it brought 24,000 visitors to Latin America. Designed as a large format event that combines day and night activities, Sónar São Paulo will take place in the first half of 2012 at four stages of different capacities, with venue and dates to be announced in the coming weeks.

Sónar festival was created 18 years ago and has staged 28 different formats in other cities apart from Barcelona since 2002. 2012’s Sónar São Paulo will be the largest festival organised by Advanced Music outside Spain. In the words of the directors of Advanced Music: “The creation of a festival in Sâo Paulo is a giant step forward in raising Sónar’s international profile. Brazil is a priority destination for us, because of both its extraordinary musical richness and cosmopolitanism and the dramatic dynamism of its society and economy, which place it at the forefront of Latin America and make it a strategic country for any internationally minded business project.”
