Unknown Mortal Orchestra - So Good At Being In Trouble
Sweet-but-saddened soul prevails on the next single from the Portland trio's forthcoming 'II' album.
Following the sprightly meanderings of Swim and Sleep, here’s So Good At Being In Trouble – the next single taken from Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s forthcoming ‘II’ album. Rubin Nielson and co again bring that familiar air of old meeting new to carve out fresh ground in the middle – but beyond that, the group sound more straight-up soulful than they ever have.
Thick characterful bass and a snare-heavy backbeat drive things along, over a sweetly falsetto from Nielson. And while it’s cut with an air of melancholy – the main chorus refrain is “She was so good at being in trouble/so bad at being in love” – the overall groove is so sunny and uplifting you can’t help but crack a smile. Stream it below.
Jagjaguwar will release ‘II’ on 5th Februrary
