Wolf Alice's Ellie Rowsell accuses Marilyn Manson of upskirting her with a Go-Pro

According to Rowsell, Manson's tour manager said: 'He does this kind of thing all the time'

Following multiple women accusing Marilyn Manson of sexual abuse, Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell has accused Manson of filming up her skirt without consent.

The lead singer of the Mercury Prize-winning rock band tweeted: “I met Marilyn backstage at a festival a few years ago. After his compliments towards my band became more and more hyperbolic I became suspicious of his behaviour. I was shocked to look down and see he was filming up my skirt with a gopro.”

She added: “There were no repercussions for his behaviour, his tour manager simply said ‘he does this kind of thing all the time’.”

Rowsell continued: “If he does this kind of thing all the time why on earth has he been headlining festivals for so many years? When will we stop enabling misogynists on the account of their success? Women must feel safe in the male dominated world that is the music industry.”

The news comes after US actress Evan Rachel Wood and four other women published accounts of sexual, physical and emotional abuse by Manson.

Upskirting is a highly intrusive practice, which typically involves someone taking a picture under another person’s clothing without their knowledge, and is now a criminal offence in England and Wales.

Marilyn Manson has denied the allegations that have come out about him via a post on Instagram, stating: “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual.”

He has now been dropped by his label, Loma Vista Recordings.

A new BBC documentary, Music’s Dirty Secretssees journalist Tamanna Rahman investigating traumatising instances of sexual abuse in the music industry, focusing on Octavian, Solo 45 and Erick Morillo among others.
