Objekt mixes for 60 minutes in Berlin
I remember buying Objekt’s ‘EP1’, a triangle and the words ‘Objekt #1’ stamped across the white label in grainy black. There was next to nothing to find out about it on the internet, you weren’t even sure if Objekt was the name of a label, the producer, a collective of producers, or whatever. The sharp-edged dubstep minimalism, those bent out of shape 808s, contained on the wax though were – still are – incredibly thrilling. He’s since also released the equally strong ‘EP2’, and we now know that Objekt is just one person operating out of Berlin. We also now know, a live showing in London and a guest spot on Rinse proving it, that he’s a very good DJ. It’s hard and sharp as his own work, acid, techno, bass, house, 2-step all chained and tied up together with his own clever, rough spin on them. Give it a listen, be impressed.
