Stormzy's 'Rainfall' video was built inside a video game

The rapper is yet to respond to Chip's diss tracks, though...

Stormzy has dropped new visuals for his track ‘Rainfall’, following in the footsteps of artists such as 50 Cent and David Bowie to be brought to life as a video game character.

The clip was created inside the digital world of Watch Dogs: Legion, an action game set in a dystopian version of near-future London where a surveillance state is controlled by corruption and corporate interests.

As the rapper traverses the futuristic London skyline while performing his song, the game’s themes mirror aspects of society today. “It’s very reflective in the times in the sense of we as people need to be coming together,” the grime MC told the BBC.

As part of the collaboration, the game will now feature a special mission called Fall On My Enemies, which finds Stormzy linking up with a resistance group to protect the broadcast of his new video.

Despite the novelty of his latest work, the rapper’s hesitation in responding to Chip’s diss tracks have left some believing that he’ll never reply at all. Towards the start of the month, Chip sent for Stormzy with tracks ‘Flowers’ and ‘Killer MC’ after it was revealed that the ‘Heavy Is The Head’ rapper pulled up at Chip’s house with some friends.

The beef sparked a wide array of reactions across the Internet, with some criticising Stormzy and others excited for an ignited interest in grime. Whether or not Stormzy will reply directly is yet to be seen.

Stormzy recently linked with AJ Tracey and Headie One on the Crazy Town-sampling ‘Ain’t It Different’.
