Fontaines D.C. Drop Visuals for 'Bug', Starring Barry Keoghan

An exclusive first look at Andrea Arnold’s new film, Bird

Today, Fontaines D.C. has released the visuals for their track 'Bug', lifted from their recent album 'ROMANCE'.

Helmed by award-winning director Andrea Arnold (Fish Tank; American Honey), Fontaines D.C. lend their raw sound to exclusive, as-yet-unseen footage of Arnold's upcoming movie, Bird, bringing the song’s gritty energy to life.

The video stars Barry Keoghan, Franz Rogowski (Passages), and fresh face Nykiya Adams, who embodies the resilience and vulnerability Arnold’s heroines are known for. Adams joins a strong ensemble cast, including newcomer Jason Buda and Carlos O'Connell from Fontaines D.C., who makes his acting debut. O'Connell’s role in Bird deepens the band’s connection to the film, while their haunting music runs through its soundtrack, weaving the sonic and visual worlds together.

Arnold’s Bird paints a gritty urban landscape that amplifies the restless spirit of Fontaines D.C. and their song 'Bug'.

Speaking about the 'Bug' video, Andrea Arnold says: “I’ve loved the Fontaine’s since I first heard them. Some music just sits in your bones like it always belonged, like you know it already, like it’s part of you. It’s why I asked to use ‘Too Real' and 'A Hero’s Death' for my Bird film. Their music felt like it belonged there. In my world. They were immediately generous in letting me use those tracks which was just fucking brilliant. That generosity brought energy which gets poured into the life of the film. I am grateful for all the positive energy that comes when you make a film. Extending the images and my Bird world for the Bug track felt like the most natural thing in the world. Like part of the same thing. I wouldn’t have done it had I not felt that. And I would hardly do it for anyone”

With its gripping performances and unfiltered look at life on society’s fringes, the 'Bug' video not only teases Bird but stands as a powerful story in its own right.

Bird premieres in cinemas this Friday 8th October.
