Premiere: Team Ghost - Dead Film Star [EP stream]
Team Ghost are a French five-piece who blend ambient electronics with hi-def rock, and have already released a couple of EPs for Sonic Cathedral in the last few years. They will share their debut album ‘Rituals’ in March, and ahead of that release, here’s an exclusive stream of the EP for lead single Dead Film Star. As a first single it feels like a natural choice: with a big, brash synth and drum-heavy sound that rises to a chorus imbued with an unashamed pop sensibility. The EP also features slow-burning groove Away, and two solid remixes of the lead track from Para One & Tacteel and TEPR. Stream it in full below, and scroll down to read our Q&A with the group.
Team Ghost will be at the Sebright Arms this Monday, 3rd December, and if you haven’t yet seen it, the rather gruesome video for Dead Film Star is well worth checking out.
Hi Team Ghost! Could you introduce yourselves to Dummy readers?
Christophe and I formed Team Ghost a few years ago in Paris. Then Félix (drums) and Pierre (bass) joined us. Benoît (guitars, synths, vocals) joined us after our second EP. Our music is a mixture of all our influences: noisy rock, electronic, ambient and new wave…
Does the new EP serve as a good indication of what we can expect from upcoming album ‘Rituals’, or will your debut differ in sound from this release?
Well, I think our album is very eclectic. Some tracks sound very rough, some are more electronic. Dead Film Star is very powerful and pop, that’s why we chose it for a first single.
Do you have a favourite new French artist of the year?
Yes -Yeti Lane. They’re amazing!! I love Fortune too, they’re working on a new album, can’t wait to hear it!
Apart from the LP release on 18th February, what else have you got lined up for Team Ghost in 2013?
Hopefully we’ll tour a lot, in Europe and maybe in the USA. Playing live is always a pleasure, we love it.
w-Sphere will release the ‘Dead Film Star’ EP on the 3rd December, and ‘Rituals’ on the 18th March
