Chitra's Jersey Club Single 'NUMB' Bottles Feelings of Isolation
Blending UK garage and melodic pop, rising artist and producer Chitra transports us to the dancefloor with her new track, 'NUMB.'
Capturing the acute void of loneliness one feels even when amongst a sea of faces, in Chitra's latest track, she addresses a deep pain caused by betrayal and subsequent heartbreak.
"Is it a habit? / Crying on the curb / As a tactic / Make me think you're sorry / What a talent / No you're just damaged / So you say you love me / When the fact is / All you've ever loved are the drugs and distractions" she sings emotively above a gritty, pounding electronic production.
Self-describing her genre as ‘melancholia’ - music that evokes nostalgia for experiences both past and future - Chitra's music exists in the space between dark, electronic infused pop with singer-songwriter sensibilities. Lyrically, she is driven by visceral imagery; each track existing almost as a diary entry.
Despite only being Chitra's third single release, she's already accruing quite the following. We'll be watching her journey closely.
'NUMB' is out now via Ten Count Entertainment.
