Eegun Drops New Single 'Fila Gele'
A fusion of Afro pop and hip-hop on a boom bap beat, 'Fila Gele' is a rhythmic new track from rising London artist, Eegun.
Keen Akon fans may spot a sample of his hit song 'Ghetto' in the tune, which was produced by Nigerian rapper, Modenine.
Carrying a pertinent message, 'File Gele' tells a story of "how success has many friends and you must be careful while at the top".
Breaking down the meaning behind the song's title, Eegun explains that Fila is the traditional head cap the Yoruba people of West Africa wear on occasions, while Gele is a women’s head scarf worn to events and parties. The single artwork was designed by Eegun’s longtime collaborator Muller Graphics, who has artistically reflected the song's title.
Having been on the music scene since 2015, Eegun has released consistently, building up his artistry over the years. Continuing that momentum, he's had a busy 2024, releasing an EP, 'The Greatest Storyteller Alive', and then a subsequent three singles: 'Dadee', 'Where You Dey Go' and 'OTE', before now sharing new tune, 'File Gele'.
'Fila Gele' is out now.
