Sabah Kenway nods to her North African roots with 00s-inspired R&B cut 'Feelin Me'

Her seventh studio single sees the songstress raise the bar once again...

North West London singer-songwriter Sabah Kenway was always destined to tread a path in the world of music. Her new single ‘Feelin Me’ proves exactly why, lighting the blue touch paper for a second time this year following previous release ‘The One’.

Produced, mixed and mastered by fellow London rapper, producer and frequent collaborator SFROMWEST, Sabah’s seventh studio single so far is a nostalgic slice of early 2000’s hip-hop and R&B. Splicing subtle Arabic influences and her Afro-North African roots with a distinctive UK twist, ‘Feelin Me’ sees the songstress raise the bar once again.

With both of her parents being from musical families, Sabah’s upbringing allowed her creative tendencies to thrive. Watching her mother and father performing on stage while hearing their stories about life on the road, Kenway knew from an early age what she wanted to do with her life and began writing songs at the age of 7.

The Londoner’s love for soul, jazz and R&B didn’t come about until she was 13, when her music teacher at the time introduced her to the likes of Aretha Franklin, Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse, giving her a whole new outlook on music and opening her eyes to the power of lyricism.

Still influenced by those greats that changed her perception of music during her teenage years, Sabah is taking iconic retro sounds and re-packaging them for a modern generation. The new single is her latest example of this.
