Serena Clara Captures the Sweet Chaos of New Love on ‘Pomegranate’
Following the brooding intensity of her last single ‘Big Bad Pearl,’ South London’s enigmatic alt-pop artist Serena Clara returns with ‘Pomegranate’ - a bright, irresistibly charming track that captures the clumsy tenderness of falling in love. Where her previous work delved into collective fatigue and digital overwhelm, ‘Pomegranate’ bursts with lightness and playful energy, embodying the hopeful awkwardness of new connection.
Known for her self-described “existential poetry-pop,” Clara’s music blends raw lyricism with sonic maximalism, drawing comparisons to visionaries like Kate Bush, Caroline Polachek, and Mitski. A self-taught producer and composer, she weaves together elements of folk, classical, ambient, and electronic music to create worlds that are both expansive and intimate.
The release also arrives ahead of Clara’s most ambitious project to date. Her concept EP ‘EGOKIN,’ a meditation on identity, family, and healing. Defined by Clara as “the self as family,” the record explores discovery and independence, while its forthcoming companion remix EP 'KIN' will open the door to collaboration, featuring contributions from artists including Yumé Net, twst, Kerensa, Tilla, CROOK, and Jury.
With ‘Pomegranate’, Serena Clara offers a softer, more romantic lens into her existential world, proving that vulnerability and joy can coexist, even in their most awkward, glittering forms.
