700 7" sleeves stuffed with 7 secret 7"s sell

Exciting, if tricky to explain, concept pairing great 7" sleeves with with great 7"s for charity, around Record Store Day.

Secret 7’’ is an exciting project that combines music and art, and aims to draw excitement towards vinyl sleeve art, as well as raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust”:http://www.teenagecancertrust.org/.

The basic story is this: a set of guest designers and musicians designed 700 7” sleeves. Into these 700 sleeves will be dropped one of seven 7“s. The sleeves will be displayed from Wednesday 18th at London’s Idea Generation Gallery, and will go on sale – including the anonymous track inside – on Saturday and Sunday. They cost £40, with all money going to Teenage Cancer Trust. Think of it as a twee version of musical pot luck, with ill kids benefiting.

The artists behind the records are The Cure, Florence & The Machine, Bombay Bicycle Club, DJ Shadow, CSS, Noah & The Whale and Ben Howard. The designers include David Shrigley, Michael Spencer Jones (Oasis, Verve), Andy Vella (who did the original sleeve for The Cure’s Friday I’m In Love ), Central Station (Happy Mondays, Black Grape), Toby Mott (De La Soul), Stylorouge (Blur, The Cure, Morrissey), Richard Evans (The Who) and Grammy winner Peter Corriston.
