Air France – It Feels Good To Be Around You (Memory Tapes version)

Memory Tapes' tribute to the Swedish band gone for good.

As we sadly reported just the other day, Air France split up. The Swedish duo of Joel and Henrik released just two EPs in their time, but these were some of the most effervescent examples of underground perfectionist pop released this decade. Many great goodbyes have been written (particularly decent is Tom Lea’s obit for FACT) perfectionist Their template of detached-yet-sincere, utopian-yet-arch collage pop was taken up by several, ahem, chillwave musicians (some of whom actually got round to releasing album), among them Memory Tapes, who composed this lovely tribute, a cover of the dearly departed’s track. It was uploaded to Soundcloud ten minutes ago with the line

“lots of sentimental talk floating around but honestly, i think of henrik and joel as possibly the funniest people i’ve ever met. miss u AF”
